Moda

Dear Reader,

Welcome to Moda’s first-ever newsletter! Whether you are a student, friend, parent, alumni or a curious mind wanting to learn more about Moda, you have arrived at the right place. With October in full swing, this issue will introduce what Moda is, what Moda has done and what Moda is looking forward to.

Moda Magazine is the student-run premiere life and style publication at UW-Madison. Students have the opportunity to write, model, photograph, illustrate and more for Moda. From mini look-books to online monthly and print issues, there are so many ways to get involved with Moda. Follow our Instagram @modamadison to learn more and see amazing work from our staff and contributors.

On Sept. 23, Moda released “Breeze,” the first online monthly issue of the semester. With visually-pleasing graphics and a variety of nostalgia-sparking content, Breeze reminisces on summer while also welcoming fall. This issue specifically features the talented editorial board of 2022-2023. Moda’s Editor in Chief Mason Braasch describes “Breeze” in her letter as “a keepsake of what has passed and a glimpse of what is to come.”

Moda is excited to show what members have been up to in October. On Oct. 16, Moda released “Niñe,” a mini in honor of Latinx Heritage Month. Moda collaborated with the Latinx Heritage Planning Committee at UW-Madison, and this mini shares wonderful narratives and experiences from the Latinx Community at UW. The next online monthly issue called “Trance” will be released on Oct. 31. Members have the opportunity to write for the issue, but also for the website. Lily Mihelich, Culture Staff Writer writes about the influence of EDM on her mind, body and life in her piece “Beat Chemistry.” Maya Herzog, Contributing Writer, explains how MDMA therapy trials are proven to treat PTSD patients in her piece “Ecstasy Heals.”

Moda is ready for you to see what is happening this semester. Stay up to date on the Moda website and Instagram for more featured work, information about upcoming meetings, involvement, events and monthly issue releases!

Warmly,

Jamie Randall, Newsletter Editor
